ABSTRACT
The article presents the author's views on managing outsourced information technology (IT) system and on how business can be protected from potential risks. He mentions financial institution the Royal Bank of Scotland which suffered from a major IT problem that led to millions of failed banking transactions. He offers several factors that need to be considered when outsourcing IT systems which include performance standards and documentation of the supplier's obligations.
