ABSTRACT
The article addresses the question of whether children with cardiac arrest should be treated with therapeutic hypothermia. The recommendation by the International Liaison Committee for Resuscitation for comatose adult patients with spontaneous circulation after cardiac arrest is mentioned. The rationale for therapeutic hypothermia is also discussed. The results of a study which compared therapeutic hypothermia with normothermia or standard care after pediatric cardiac arrest are highlighted.
