ABSTRACT
The article discusses the mortgage rules, effective January 10, 2014, formulated by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) of the U.S. Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System in relevance to home buyers. Topics include characteristics of Qualified Mortgage (QM) loans, banning of the yield-spread premiums, financial incentives formerly paid to brokers, and loan repayments. Director of housing policy at Consumer Federation of America Barry Zigas' views are presented.
