ABSTRACT
The article profiles the mid-1970s South African punk rock band Wild Youth. It details the history of the band and the challenges they encounter recording and performing in a country where apartheid was rampant. It explores the inspiration behind singer and guitarist Michael Fleck's decision to establish Wild Youth and the influence of the band the Sex Pistols on his decision. The albums they recorded and comparisons with fellow South African punk band National Wake are also discussed.
