ABSTRACT
This paper aims to describe the necessary links between scientific research and the study of public administration. It starts from the premise that any scientific discipline requires an object of study unique and different from the others that make up the social sciences and the scientific study of an object, phenomenon or circumstance also requires a methodology based on scientific grounds. Being perfectly distinct public administration in the field of social sciences, it is necessary to identify the methodological elements that let you go setting administrative science. We describe the scientific method and the scientific research process, also reviewing the types of reasoning and the main techniques and instruments for research administrative aids. Finally are some commonly used research models for the study of public administration
