The article examines how the changes in the Latin American retail sector was spearheaded by Juan Benavides Feliú, chief executive officer of glass company Glasstech, who was the former chief executive officer of Chilean chain Falabella. The strategic plan he implemented in the chain is recounted which includes establishing the finance business and the merger with home improvement warehouse chain Sodimac. The role of the real estate business and internationalization are also discussed.
