ABSTRACT
The article presents the opinions of former Chilean president Ricardo Lagos Escobar on politicians and the economic changes in Latin America, and recounts the decisions he have made during his term. His rejection of support for the war against Iraq, and the importance of free trade agreements in boosting their economy are discussed. Also included are his proposal for politicians to make long-term policies, and the big shifts that changed the economic make-up of the region.
