ABSTRACT
The article focuses on legend and the reality of the life and works of mathematician, feminist icon and martyr Hypatia in Alexandria, Egypt. It highlights the important role played by the Hypatia in both literary and academic world in which her intelligence has been lauded by feminists and modern scholars. However, several intellects questioned Hypatia's skills since they believed were greatly exaggerated. A brief overview of Hypatia's personal and educational background is provided.
