ABSTRACT

Reports that Jaber al-Sabah, the emir of Kuwait, gave $1.85 million last week to keep London's nearly broke zoo in operation. Iraqi soldiers had eaten many of the animals in the Kuwait Zoo during the Persian Gulf War; His gift saved the zoo's animals from being sold or killed; The zoo's attendance needs to pick up sharply.
