ABSTRACT
Reports that the United Nations is pondering a new tool for promoting international understanding: soap operas. Last week, actors and directors from soap operas in six countries met at UN headquarters to discuss the possibility of using their shows to spread information on global issues. Issues include family planning to the environment; Television is a major form of communication.
