ABSTRACT
The article discusses the appearance of High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington D.C. on September 30, 2013 to talk about her views on diplomatic challenges in the Middle East. Particular focus is given to Ashton's participation in the talks between the West and Iran at the United Nations (UN) on September 26, 2013. Ashton also talked about the civil war in Syria.
