ABSTRACT
The article discusses the challenges of the humanitarian crisis in Syria according to European Union (EU) Commissioner for International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response Dr. Kristalina Georgieva. Dr. Georgieva spoke at the New America Foundation's Open Technology Institute and Middle East Task Force in Washington D.C. on Octorber 11, 2013 with regards to the crisis. Particular focus is given to the effect of the civil war in Syria to the stability of Syria's neighbors.
