ABSTRACT
The article discusses the tale of a ghostly female figure and its role in the redevelopment of the Bristol Old Vic theater in England. It examines the strong connection between theatres and ghost stories framed in the traditional story-telling and folklore. It explores the legacy of the ghost Sarah Macready, who played an important role to the success of Bristol Old Vic, which indicates the importance of history and cultural memory in a successful, contemporary theatrical redevelopment
