ABSTRACT
POODLE-PERMED singer Leo Sayer happily recalls the time his track You Make Me Feel Like Dancing reached the No.1 position in the US back in 1976. The 65-year-old star says: 'I was shopping in Saks Fifth Avenue and somebody shouted out: "Hey - that's him!" And I got carried out of the store onto the street and put on two big guys' shoulders, and carried down the street with everybody singing my song. The cops were stopping the traffic, people were hooting horns - and we got to the plaza by the hotel where I was staying, and the concierges came out and joined in, cheering me and everything.' There's no doubt that a similarly giddy reception awaits the ageing British crooner when he takes to the stage of the Troxy theatre in the East End of London next Wednesday.
