ABSTRACT
The article looks back at the launch of the Apple iPhone smartphone in San Francisco, California on January 9, 2007. It recalls how Apple co-founder Steve Jobs stepped on to the stage at Macworld Expo, with a sense that something big might be coming. Applause surrounded the venue when Jobs introduced a prototype of the iPhone. While the phone was held together with gaffer tape, the user interface was real.
