ABSTRACT
The article discusses the creation of the position of chief strategy officer (CSO) in health systems, wherein the CSO is tasked to guide strategic planning and is responsible for executing, communicating and sustaining a planned strategy. Particular focus is given to the strategy work experiences of CSO Greg Poulsen of Salt Lake City's Intermountain Healthcare and consultant Adriane Willig of Witt/Kieffer. It also discusses how the CSO can help resolve different organizational issues.
