The article examines the legal implications of few people having control of their digital identity. The European Commission leads the effort on data protection and plans to enforce the General Data Protection Regulation, a unified European Union (EU) law. The new law also aims to reinforce people's rights over their personal data and facilitate the easy transfer of information from one service provider to another.
