ABSTRACT
Describes the efforts of the Columbus Caravels Archaeological Project to find two ships beached by the explorer Christopher Columbus on his last voyage to the New World. Investigation of hull remains and naval architectural plans for the caravels used by Columbus; Use of remote-sensing devices to detect materials beneath the surface of the seabed; Consideration of the attempts of archaeologists to locate the ships La Navidad and the Santa Marí Speculation that certain ships were wrecked by hurricanes in Bahía de Isabela in 1494.
