ABSTRACT
A changing society requires existing career profiles to assume new tasks. Libraries face the question what their future core business will be. The traditional task of reading promotion gains in importance and requires employees with specific skills. These skills are provided by the interdisciplinary training programme 'Reading and Literature Pedagogy' which has been devised by the Bundesverband Leseförderung (Federal Association for Reading Promotion). It is based on the reading and literature pedagogy framework of competence which deliberately integrates personal and social competences, as well as subject-related and methodical competences and represents the foundation of the curriculum.
