ABSTRACT
Recounts the `Fifth Down Game' of 1940 between Dartmouth and Cornell, so called because of referee William Friesell's counting error, which cost Dartmouth the game. In a move which gained much publicity, Cornell relinquished the victory as a matter of honor.
