ABSTRACT
The article discusses how marketers of furniture and home fashions finally are giving their ads a lived-in look. In a trade campaign for Fortrel, a fiber blend used in sheets and other bed fittings, the linens are pictured in an artful heap on the bed and even on the floor. Thomasville Furniture Industries has been refining its advertising via BBDO Worldwide, first with a print campaign shot on location instead of a studio and then with TV spots showing the kind of daily wear and tear Thomasville furniture can take. Donghia Furniture & Textiles, an upscale company that sells only through interior designers, used to keep its furniture and textile ads separate. But Donghia now combines the areas into one consumer campaign due to the increased competition.
