ABSTRACT
This integrative review was performed with the purpose to identify the health promotion domains defined in the Galway conference considering articles that use educational games to promote health among adolescents. Data collection was performed in November of 2011, through searches on databases in accordance with the following inclusion criteria: central theme is educational games for the promotion of adolescent health; full-text available online at no cost; rated as original research article or experience report; written in English, Spanish or Portuguese; indexed on the CINAHL, PubMed, LILACS, Cochrane and Scopus databases. Nine articles were analyzed according to the seven domains: Triggering Change, Leadership, Evaluation, Planning, Implementation, Advocacy, and Partnership. Of those, Triggering Change and Implementation were identified in every study. Advocacy was the only domain not identified in any article. Despite the importance of the domains for effective health promotion, not all of the are covered in the investigated studies.
