ABSTRACT
Stagnant antisymmetric waves in an elastic wedge-shaped plate were studied theoretically and experimentally. The solution to the nonuniform problem was obtained in the approximation of a small and smooth field nonuniformity. The vibration amplitudes in a standing wave were calculated and measured for a small wedge angle. Experimental measurements were performed on an original setup.

The suggested earlier theory of nonuniform fluid of two-level atoms [J. Phys. Studies 1, 402 (1997); J. Phys. Studies 9, 156 (2005)] has been improved by taking into account the short-range order owing to short-range interactions. The changes in the vapour-liquid phase diagram, the density...

The forced-free responses of nonuniform beams under moving point loads are analyzed in this paper. Simple approximate analytical formulae for the forced responses of undamped nonuniform beams, derived using the fundamental mode by the Rayleigh-Ritz (R-R) method, are presented. The responses of...

The effects of electric field and non-uniform basic temperature gradient on the onset of Rayleigh-Bénard-Marangoni convection in a micropolar fluid are studied using the Galerkin technique. The eigenvalues are obtained for an upper free/adiabatic and lower rigid/isothermal boundaries. The...
