ABSTRACT
The article discusses retailer Albertson's decision to eliminate its loyalty card program. The decision could benefit retailers in the short term as they save on costs attendant to operating card/database efforts. It notes that in the long run retailers without loyalty programs lose capabilities that many competitors in the industry possess.
