ABSTRACT
The article presents an abstract of a review of a study by A. von Wolff and colleagues published in a 2013 issue of the "Journal of Affective Disorders" on the effectiveness and tolerability of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) compared with tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs) in the treatment of chronic depression. Included is a commentary on the review which confirms that SSRIs have overtaken TCAs as first-line treatment except for cases where SSRIs and other treatments fail.
