ABSTRACT
The article presents a study which was aimed to determine the safety of 95% ethanolic extract of Anaxagorea luzonensis and Ziziphus attopensis in rats. Anaxagorea is a tree found in countries including Philippines, Sri Lanka and Thailand, and its extract contains flavones, flavonones, flavonols, and xanthones. As part of the study, acute oral toxicity test was conducted using the toxicity-acute toxic class method of the OECD Guidelines for the use of chemicals. The study concluded that the extracts of Anaxagorea and Ziziphus are safe to be used as a material source for herbal drug development.
