Current Outlook Is Improved, but Long-Term Affordability Is a Major Concern

The article looks at the study conducted by the Government Accountability Office on the long-term affordability of the F-35 Lightning II program. The study tackles program performance in 2012, manufacturing performance indicators, production results and design changes and the purchase and maintenance costs. The study found that the program continues to bring in financial risk from its plans to get aircrafts before completing flight testing but shows progress in developing and supply processes.
