ABSTRACT
The article reports on the insurance claims processed by global insurer Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. following the occurrence of Hurricane Sandy in the U.S. in 2012. The company processed 100,000 claims, the largest for a single event in the history of the insurer, which affected the net income by 576 million dollars. The Alternative Dispute Resolution program of Liberty Mutual is highlighted which aims to held customers in avoiding a long legal process.
