ABSTRACT
The article explores some strategies for effective interaction between pharmaceutical firms and contract research organizations (CROs) in early-stage drug research and development (R&D). Factors to consider in deciding to outsource to a CRO are technical expertise, key platform technologies, and good manufacturing practice. Information on the advantages of contracting a full-service global CRO is provided, as well as business models applicable to drug studies.
