ABSTRACT
LET'S start in Latin, like lawyers: cui bono? To whose benefit is the leak now of the Anglo tapes? If you want to figure out who actually handed the tapes to the Irish Independent — because the journalists at the Indo are not saying — one way to start is to ask: in whose interest is the release of these tapes now, five years after the events? There are a lot of places from which those tapes could have been leaked at any time since 2008, either from the top of the banks, regulators or gardaí, or even just from the technicians who installed and maintained the recording systems. Yet the leak only comes now. To whose benefit is that? So far the benefit has all been to Enda Kenny. Certainly he's been manoeuvring to make sure the leak works his way.
