ABSTRACT
The article offers a look into the life and work of artist James Wesley Snyder, one of the prominent illustrators in the 1950's for "Saturday Evening Post" "Coronet" and "Cosmopolitan" among other well-known magazines. Born in Pennsylvania in 1911 and studied at the Carnegie Institute of Technology and The Art Institute of Pittsburgh, he joined the U.S. Army in 1943 and started his career in Greenwich, Connecticut. Included are samples of Snyder's pictures and illustrations.
