ABSTRACT
DOES the revelation that US spies are able to skim your emails and private messages using a sinister-sounding program called Prism make you feel like giving up on that imagined notion "internet security" or pursuing it angrily? Many will take a strange comfort in the knowledge that if the Government really wants to read what you send they will almost certainly find a way. However, those who are a bit spooked about privacy are learning about free forms of protected communication such as Microsoft Outlook's basic encryption service, or by using sites such as OneShar. es and burnnote.com.
