ABSTRACT
PS FORMER Ambassador Lord Renwick has revealed how he arranged for Baroness Thatcher to have access to the Hurlingham Club, to give her 'a change of scene'. The career diplomat neatly avoided the snooty club's usual 12-year waiting list by appealing to then chairman, High Court judge Sir Michael Burton. 'He and the committee kindly decided that Margaret Thatcher could be given access to the club, principally for a change of scene from her usual walking areas,' Robin Renwick tells the club magazine. 'She thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful gardens and tea in the conservatory. She will be sadly missed.'
