ABSTRACT
FAI CUP winner Colm James has been banned for 18 months from all football-related activities after breaching rules on match integrity. The 29-year-old Longford Town defender (below) was found guilty on six counts following a twomonth probe involving the FAI, UEFA, FIFA and An Garda Síochána. The violation of FAI rules in last night's judgement relate to Rule 95 (Bringing The Game Into Disrepute), Rule 99 (Corruption) and Rule 102 (Betting/ Gambling). The severity of the penalty means James, who has also played for Bray, Galway, Sporting Fingal and Shelbourne, can't play again until 2015. He has the right to appeal.
