Beyond the Stalemate

Steinfels, Peter
June 2013
Commonweal;6/14/2013, Vol. 140 Issue 11, p12
The article discusses the author's reexamination of the Catholic stance on abortion which starts with two simple statements namely that the unborn offspring is an individual member of the human species who deserve protection from harm and destruction and that this conviction is nowhere near as obvious to those who hold it. It suggests for the Catholic Church to work for the legal protection of unborn lives and make its argument for the moral obligation of protecting unborn lives credible.
