ABSTRACT
This article highlights the initiatives of the Financial Planning Association in the U.S. for 2002. First of all the association's initiatives is the redesigning of the FPA web site in order to improve visitor experience to the FPA web site and the Journal of Financial Planning. Another important FPA event was the launch of the first National Financial Planning Week held October 7-13, 2004 across the country. In addition, FPA established the National Financial Planning Support Center as a response to the September 11, 2001 terrorists attacks. The Center's immediate focus of to offer pro bono financial planning, assistance to families, individuals and businesses directly affected by the terrorist attacks. Similarly, FPA developed the Virtual Learning Center to help expand members' financial planning expertise in a convenient and easy manner. It provides members with access to a variety of Web-based educational resources and the opportunity to earn continuing education credit. In the area of community development, the FPA was successful at debuting the Community Building project at Success Forum 2002 held September 8-October 1, 2002 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Meanwhile, the FPA has also planned for in internship program for future financial planners.
