ABSTRACT
THE good progress of Prince Philip in hospital has an unexpected bonus — we are spared the witterings of historian Kate Williams on the BBC. The titian-haired academic, who's become the go-to girl for the Corporation on all matters royal, managed to surprise James Naughtie on the Today programme the other morning when, during a completely uninformative discussion on Philip's health, she referred to the abdication of the Queen's father. 'Er, uncle,' interrupted a kindly Uncle Jim.
