ABSTRACT
The article focuses on horse theft, citing the case of Debi Metcalfe whose mare Idaho was stolen in 1997 and which was found and recovered after 51 weeks of hard work. The heartbreaking experience led Metcalfe to establish the nonprofit Stolen Horse International which has been assisting horse theft victims. Discussed are recommended steps to follow when a horse has been stolen, pertinent information for conducting searches, and tips to discourage thieves.
