ABSTRACT
The article discusses the author's views on the concept of edge city in Pendleton, Indiana. He cites mayor Jim Brainard as the first to introduce the edge city concept to describe suburban centers such as Carmel on the edge of bigger cities like Indianapolis. The author lives on the edge of the edge center but realizes that criminality still abounds in small and less developed exurbs that want to become suburbs.
