Now for Baby Blacks as Ireland finish off Fiji

June 2013
Daily Mail;6/10/2013, p55
IRELAND scored their second-biggest win in the six-year history of the Junior World Championship to give themselves a real chance of reaching the semifinals for the first time. Former Cork hurler Darren Sweetnam scored a brace of tries and Ulster's Rory Scholes also got two as Mike Ruddock's men brushed Fiji aside 46-3 at Stade de la Rabine last night. They will return to the south Brittany venue on Thursday night to face New Zealand knowing that a historic win would send them into the last four and probably eliminate the Baby Blacks at the same time. They ran in six tries and it was the first time they have won both of their opening games, having defeated Australia 19-15. Coach Mike Ruddock said: 'When we were handed the pool it was quite daunting, but very exciting to play three southern hemisphere teams, to go toe-to-toe with them, particularly on the hard firm ground here in France.
