ABSTRACT
This paper discusses the role of the main actors and their interests in the creation of Brazil Communications Company (EBC, a media corporation owned by the Brazilian Government). By reflecting on the system of political media, the goal is to understand how EBC and commercial mass media interact with the political and the economical fields. Through a historical, comparative and systemic approach one presents the debate about the consequences of the creation of a public service broadcasting company in Brazil.
