ABSTRACT
The article examines the Emissions Trading System (ETS) of the European Union (EU) and its impact on the airline and aircraft industry. Complaints by both industries that the ETS's requirement that airlines and business airplanes must account for their carbon dioxide emissions in airspace outside EU countries are considered. Complaints by the aircraft industry and operators of business airplanes that ETS gives airlines more favorable treatment are discussed.
