ABSTRACT
The article reports on the growth of lodging or hotel industry in the first quarter of 2013 in the U.S. despite domestic fiscal policy issues. It highlights the transition of the lodging industry from a period of strong recovery drive by increased occupancy rate to a period of average daily rate (ADR)-driven growth, coupled with an improvement in capital market conditions. It notes that new hotel projects are commencing construction in the first quarter of 2013.
