ABSTRACT
The article reports on the declining population of the George River caribou herd in Canada. As of July 2010, its population plummeted to 74,000 from its peak population of 800,000 in the early 1990s. The Ungava Peninsula Caribou Aboriginal Round Table is created to tackle the decline of the George River herd. It proposes ban on caribou sport hunting, especially from the Leaf River herd.
