The EU as a Promoter of Values and the European Global Project

The article discusses European Union (EU) values and how these are promoted globally, and studies the feasibility of EU becoming successful in the global scene. Article 2 of the Treaty of the European Union (TEU) reminds that the Union is founded on respect for human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, the rule of law and respect for human rights. Article 3(5) of the TEU says the Union shall uphold strict observance of international law, including respect for the United Nations.
