ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the emergence of a culture of the periodical in Brazil and its relationship with the transatlantic movement of the press and circulation of periodicals. The trend had risen from the development of Brazilian periodical journalism after the end of Portuguese imperialism and rise of a Brazilian political regime. An example of Brazilian news reportage in Portuguese periodicals was the "Astro da Lusitania."
