The article focuses on identifying and analyzing trends to watch in higher education through environmental scanning. It describes the set of categories in which scanning process is organized including demographics, economics, and global education. It states that the goal of the steps of scanning for trends in each category is to make a list of knowledge sources that are regularly reviewed and to place each source into one or more category of trends.
