ABSTRACT
The article discusses the use of technology and electronic games by U.S. medical professionals to help children cope with pain while undergoing procedures. Callie Kofoed, child life specialist at Seattle Children's Hospital in Washington, used iPads and apps to distract children and minimize their pain during procedures. Other pediatric hospitals are discovering, through studies and personal experience, the effectiveness of technology in shifting the child's focus from the pain to other things.
