ABSTRACT
The idea of Open Access is primarily discussed with regards to legal, technical, financial and infrastructural aspects. This article looks into the ethical aspects of Open Access because of its importance for the principle of free access to information. The basis of this analysis is a comparison of codes of ethics from Professional associations from Germany, the United States and the International Federation of Library Federations and Institutions (IFLA) as an international association.
