ABSTRACT
The article looks at archaeological evidence of pottery and related artifacts in the city of Praisos, Crete, Greece, and its territory. Particular focus is given to black gloss (b.g.) pottery. Details on evidence of specialized craft production at Praisos, including architectural terracottas and votive figurines, are presented. It is suggested that pottery from Praisos could provide a guide for studying the development of ceramics in other parts of Crete during the 6th and 5th centuries BCE.
